Hiking and Ibex

Yesterday morning early I went for a hike. It was particularly to see Ibex. I had been 2 times already in the last couple of weeks but too much snow hindered progress. Yesterday was Ibex day. They were everywhere. I started at the refuge de Bises. This is what greeted me on col de Floray

I walked on passed Darbon lake. There were a few tents around and up to a plateau where 2 Ibex where fighting it out on the cliffs above. I sat with camera on knee for steadiness. Fairly quick shutter speed and continuous mode shooting.

I then walked along a ridge towards col D’Ugeon and passed close by to so many Ibex I couldn’t count!!

I very often go off the beaten track which I did here to clamber up dent du Velan to get this picture looking out over lake Geneva in the distance. Coming down another little group of Ibex

Finally heading back to Bises I looked up at Rocher GravΓ© that I had passed earlier. You can still make out the Ibex middle left of picture above the snow patch.

  3. I hope you don’t get tired of this word, but … stunning! I kept going back to the photo captioned “I then walked along a ridge towards col D’Ugeon and passed close by to so many Ibex I couldn’t count!!”, with the endless peaks marching into the distance.
