These last few weeks have been really busy.. I live in a seasonal tourism village so in season winter or summer you can work long hours many days a week without a break.. record was 10 days work no day off. The upside is that I have October and November with no work and travel plans;-). When I do have a day off and the weather allows I head for the hills. I have 2 favourite foodies;\u00a0Lavender and Lime<\/a> and Snapshotincursive<\/a>. The other day Gail from Snapshot wrote a quote from St Francis de Sales<\/a> and we have a chapel and plateau named after St Francis. On my day off this week I decided to go to this plateau. After just over an hours hike (I do walk quite fast) you arrive at the plateau and you first see this little chapel. The door here is often open.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After the chapel you come across some chalets, one being a refuge where you can spend the night. These areas today are also called Alpages and it’s where the livestock is bought to during the summer months in the surrounding fields for grazing. These are the chalets and then after walking through the plateau starting to climb up on the other side I took a shot looking back. You can see the clouds down in the valley. The chalets are just in front of the clouds.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

When you reach the top of the climb here you then have the most amazing views opening out on the other side. Mont Blanc in the distance. On this day there was a low cloud cover. There is a red dot in centre bottom of first picture. That is the rope you grab to start your way down what is called Derochoir. You climb to the bottom of the cliff with the help of ladders and ropes and then you carry on hiking through quite rocky terrain till you get to the village called Ayers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At Ayers you head left and you follow a 4X4 track path till you come across these most amazing views just near the Moede Anterne refuge. It had rained a deluge a few days before so everything was an incredible green.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At the refuge you turn sharply left uphill to the Col D’anterne where more amazing views await you.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Finally it’s practically all down hill from here. The first plateau you come to has the lac d’Anterne. You clamber down quite a long path and the next plateau comes into view. The Alfred Wills refuge is here which was about to be enveloped in mist. I walked the last hour down in the mist to my car. I love this circular route.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
